We’ve had a very seasonal week over the past seven days at Shaw’s Corner.
On Monday we were honoured to be invited to the very beautiful Mill Green Museum (just outside Welwyn Garden City) to give a talk to their Friends on “Shaw: the Man at Ayot.” It seemed to be well received and it was a great chance for us to meet people at one if our closest fellow museums.
Wednesday saw us boarding a coach with colleagues from our sister property Dunstable Downs for an outing to see the stunning Waddesden Manor dressed for Christmas. It was wonderfully done: like entering the set of The Nutcracker. Fairy lights glinted against a background of Old Master paintings, a court gown filled a dinning room set for the most sumptuous of Christmas music and the breathtaking collections looked even better in the festive light.
Safe to say we also stuffed ourselves silly with delicious food at the Stables Restaurant and spent far too much money in the shop (although we could have spent much more)!
We were back at Dunstable Downs again on Thursday with all our staff and volunteers for our annual end of season meeting and Christmas lunch (and more shopping). It was a lovely day as always as we thanked our volunteers for all their help over the past year and celebrated our achievements in 2013, as well as looking forward to 2014.
